The Chernobyl disaster was caused by a nuclear accident that occurred on Saturday 26 April 1986, at the No. 4 reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian. The station consisted of four reactors, each capable of producing 1,000 megawatts of electric power. Due to some technical mistakes while conducting an experiment in reactor 4, heat in reactor 4 was increased and it causes an explosion. Tons of radioactive material was released in atmosphere. Authorities tried to reduce the effect of radiation by sealing reactor 4 with steel and cement. So many people were effected by radiation. The surrounding villages of Chernobyl was evacuated and removed as much as possible radiation from ground and from in atmosphere.
After 30 years tourists are allowed to visit the nuclear power plant. Due to deadly radiation still Chernobyl is not a habitable place.
